Free Groceries, Gas & TV: The Benefits of Social Casino Gift Cards

Lower redemption thresholds and everyday usefulness have made gift cards far more valuable than expected.

It’s no secret that I am a big fan of gift card redemptions at sweepstakes casinos. They are my preferred option because the redemption threshold is much lower than for all other options.

Since I’ve started playing at sweepstakes casinos, I have redeemed thousands of dollars in gift cards and put them to great use. Below are just a few things that I’ve done with my gift card proceeds. Yes, this may all be a bit of a humble brag, but maybe you’ll get inspired to give gift card redemptions another look.

Free Groceries

There are several grocery gift card options on Prizeout, but the only one in my area was Kroger. So after racking up about $2k in eBay gift cards, I started racking up some Kroger cards.

Kroger is a bit more expensive than where I normally shop, but sometimes their coupons level it out. Then again, I can’t complain too much as I’m getting free groceries. One thing I like about Kroger compared to Walmart and other stores is that you can use their gift cards to cover pickup or delivery fees and even tip.

I Cut the Cord from Satellite

Up until a few months ago, I was still paying a fairly high Dish Network bill for TV services because my broadband was not strong enough to stream. Luckily, some local upgrades let me get proper broadband, but I didn’t want to go from paying a high monthly TV fee to a bunch of small fees.

So I took a look at both a SuperBox and the vSeeBox. I initially purchased a SuperBox with part of my eBay gift card balance, which I accumulated from redemptions. However, I wasn’t happy with some of the freezing issues, so I went ahead and got a vSeeBox, again using some of my eBay gift cards.

After a couple of weeks with the vSeeBox, I decided to drop satellite, as I now have a proper streaming box for most anything I want to watch. That’s one less bill per month with no initial investment out of my pocket.

I Recovered from Hand Surgery

Last month, I had surgery on my left hand to fix a trigger finger issue that was reducing strength and making it difficult to use my hand. Luckily, the procedure went without a hitch. Then started the recovery process.

The healing process takes about six weeks on average, and part of that process involves restrengthening the hand and loosening tendons that stiffen from surgery. Physical therapy balls can help in recovery, and so I picked up a set with some more of my eBay gift cards.

During my two-week follow-up, my doctor told me about some massage techniques I could use to help loosen scar tissue. That did indeed help, but it also led to an infection, which resulted in my needing an antibiotic.

As luck had it, I hit a redemption on Funrize that same day and decided to get a CVS gift card. I used that gift card to buy my meds and cleared it right up.

Recovering from any procedure can be time-consuming and expensive. My gift cards helped offset at least a small part of the recovery costs.

I Filled Up My Tank – Multiple Times

My local Exxon became a 76 a few years ago. I never went there because I get a discount at the local Murphy’s (Walmart gas station). That was until recently, when 76 gas cards became an option on Prizeout.

I redeemed for about $20 and loaded it on the Fuel Forward app to test it out. There were no issues with using the card, and the app even gave me a slight discount on gas. Afterward, I got another small redemption and finished filling my tank.

Since then, I’ve redeemed enough to fill my tank at least four times. With gas prices nowadays, this is a practical use that saves me a lot of money.

I Beat the Ender Dragon With My Godson

So... I play Minecraft. Years ago, my youngest godson was big into the game, so I ended up learning to play so we could go play when I visited. In the last few months, he has gotten back into the game, this time on PC and Xbox.

My godson didn’t have Minecraft on Xbox, and rather than bugging his mom to buy it, I used one of my redemptions to get an Xbox gift card so he could buy the game. This led to many evenings of us mining, enchanting swords, and eventually defeating the Ender Dragon.

Granted, he spends most of his time building things. He’s a builder, and I end up mining for materials a lot. Does that make me Steve? La-la-la-lava Ch-ch-ch-chicken!

So… Many… Gift Cards

The above are just a few of my favorite things I’ve done with my gift cards. In addition, I’ve gotten gift cards from Papa John's, IHOP, Sheetz, Subway, Google Play, and more.

Why don’t I just build up and get a larger cash payout? I like getting paid, and I often can redeem free play for a gift card in a timely fashion without needing to make a purchase. Many of these companies are ones I’d use anyway, and in the case of 76, gift cards give me an excuse to patronize a new place.

What I hope you take away from this is an awareness that gift cards allow you to be a bit more creative with your redemptions. You can treat yourself to a pizza, buy your kids some Christmas gifts on eBay, or catch up on Squid Game with a Netflix subscription.
