The Win Zone Becomes Latest Sweeps Casino to Shut Down

I logged into my account at The Win Zone on Tuesday and discovered it was the latest sweepstakes casino to announce its closure. The Win Zone is the fifth site to close since August and at least the 12^th to close in 2026.

To their credit, they are handling the closure better than most sites that have shut down this year. Players with at least 1 SC on their account can redeem until October 23.

The Win Zone Closing – Gameplay Already Ceased

The Win Zone announced its closure on Tuesday, September 22nd, becoming the fifth site to do so since August. The company closed the site suddenly and accelerated the timeline, ending gameplay on September 24 at 11:59 PM.

Players with balances of at least 1 SC can redeem them in full. Players have until October 23, 2026, to redeem their SC balances, or else they lose them.

This move impresses me, as many sites don’t bother adjusting their redemption policies. Sadly, as we have seen with a couple of recent closures, some sites don’t even bother trying to pay out remaining balances at all.

The Win Zone was PLAYSTUDIOS first venture into the sweepstakes field, and the company did not launch any other products. The company gave no information about a potential replacement, so it appears they'll return to focusing on their mobile social casino game apps.

Four Other Sites Close – Two Look Unlikely to Honor Balances

Recently, I reported on the closure of Luckyland Slots, which wrapped up operations on September 14. Three other sites have also shut down.

LuckyStake Casino shut down in August, accelerating the shutdown and concluding it on August 20^th. Players could submit redemption requests to claim balances that met site minimums.

A pair of sister sites also shut down, and it appears they may have absconded with player SC. The Money Factory was the first site to shut down, closing suddenly on August 9th and not providing a way for players to redeem their balances. They said players who had already submitted redemption requests didn't need to do anything, and that they would “post further updates as the wind-down progresses.”

Coin Frenzy also shut down, and at first, the company seemed ready to follow a standard closure process. Initially, it planned to shut down on September 25^th.

However, on September 8, the site posted a message almost identical to The Money Factory's, promising an “orderly wind-down” and future updates.

At this time, Coin Frenzy and The Money Factory may not honor player balances, given the lack of updates and transparency around the site closures.

Which Sites Are Next?

While cliché, it’s not whether more sites will shut down, but when. I predict at least five sites will close by the end of 2026. A shrinking U.S. player base and continued legal and regulatory pressure make further contraction likely.

Based on what I see in the industry, here are some of my predictions on site closures this year:

RealPrize and/or LoneStar Casino – This pair of sister sites don’t have the best reputation for consistent player payments, and I’ve noticed real inconsistencies with promotions. I can see at least one of these sites close by the end of the year.

PlayFame, SpinBlitz, or Mega Bonanza – B-Two Operations / B2Services operates several low-redemption sweepstakes casinos, and I can see them thinning the field a bit. I expect one or more of these properties to close as part of consolidation efforts.

VegasWay, FireSevens, and Sweepshark – These are three of the 14 sites that promo-banned me on the same day. Neither site offers enough uniqueness to survive a round of cuts from their parent company Utech Solutions. The company operates at least 14 casinos, and I anticipate they will thin the field by year’s end.

Funz Casino – I hate to say it, but I can see Funz Casino shutting down by year’s end. Their gaming is average, their promotions are light, and the only redemption option is gift cards starting at 100 SC. I rarely hear this site mentioned on social media, and I see no signs of it trying to grow. This is one of my daily plays, as they have a 1 SC login bonus, but I don't think it’ll make it to 2027.

Yes, my list includes more than five sites, which shows the glut of sweepstakes casinos out there. Even if 30 sites closed by year’s end, players would still have plenty of replacement options.

With the US market continuing to shrink, operators will have to make tough choices, and this is just the start. If a few more states ban sweepstakes casinos, site closures could accelerate in 2027.
